We actively encourage 3-way communication between practitioners, parents and children and were complimented on the way we work together in our last Ofsted report.
We ask parents help us to help the children by letting us know about any special needs / circumstances as and when they arise. We, in turn, will be able to tell you how and what your child has done during the day, any Wow moments or achievements and of any problems that occur during their time here. We aim to have consistency of staff, in order that you can be confident that any trends / changes in any aspect of your childs behaviour / development will be noted promptly and discussed with you as and when necessary. We are here to support parents as well as their children.
Staff will keep you informed of your childs daily progress. We also hold an open day / consultation day twice a year for you to formally discuss your childs progress with their key person. (For more information on the key person system, please speak to one of our practitioners.)
We have a very open policy with our parents and work on the basis that, if a problem should arise, we ask you to tell us immediately, so that we can rectify it. A private room is available if you need to discuss anything in confidence.
Parents are asked to provide disposable nappies and creams as required. In addition, we would ask that all children be provided with a labelled bag, containing a spare set of clothes and suitable outdoor clothing for the weather conditions. All items brought into nursery should be clearly labelled to ensure they are returned to the correct owner.
Our commitment to working with parents has been recognised both by Staffordshire County Council, with an award for achieving Staffordshires Early Years Inclusion Development Programme Quality Mark in February 2010, and by Ofsted, during their inspections, when they graded Little Monsters as outstanding in the effectiveness of our partnerships and of our engagement with parents and carers.
We try to keep parents up to date via our newsletters, which are produced approximately every 2 months. We also display notices on the doors into the playrooms and throughout the Reception Areas advising parents of what's on and any infectious illnesses which may be present in the nursery.
We are more than happy to support children with additional needs and work well with outside agencies, such as Social Services, Speech & Language Therapists, Common Assessment Framework teams, etc.
– Parent

Children are warmly welcomed and staff exchange key updates with parents.
We support smooth goodbyes and offer comfort if any child feels unsettled.

Whilst our focus is understandably on the health & well-being of the children in our care, we feel that taking a holistic approach and caring for the whole family is just as important. We are here to support parents just as much as the children and offer the same nurturing environment we foster for the children to parents and carers too. We have a meeting room for private discussions if needed and are happy to listen and help with advice and support when necessary or requested.
If parents have concerns or issues we are unable to help with directly, we can signpost them to other agencies that may offer what they need and support them in gaining access to these services.
Our policies and procedures reflect our commitment to treating every child as an individual and are available for review in the Reception Area. We offer a flexible settling-in process to support both children and parents, whether through trial sessions or immediate starts. Parents are encouraged to check in throughout the day for reassurance. We maintain an open-door policy, with Unit Supervisors and Proprietors available for discussions, and a private meeting room for confidential concerns. If any issues arise, we encourage parents to communicate with us so they can be resolved, with further steps available through our complaints procedure or Ofsted if necessary.
Our team of dedicated professionals is a credit to the nursery and supports our goal of providing top quality childcare in a happy, friendly atmosphere.
The overwhelming majority of staff are already qualified to NVQ3 level. Several members of our team have achieved their Foundation Degrees and others are currently working towards it. We actively encourage vocational training and courses throughout the year for all staff members. We try to ensure a wide age range of adults working with the children, giving the children a variety of different experiences and role model figures!

Each child has a designated key person who serves as their primary caregiver, maintains developmental records, and plans activities tailored to their needs. Parents can access records or arrange progress meetings anytime.
We prioritize your child’s security and well-being with strict access controls, supervision, and regular safety checks. Healthy habits are encouraged through nutrition, hygiene, and physical activities, while inclusivity and positive behavior are fostered through praise and parental collaboration. All policies are available in the Reception Area for review.

Parents should keep their child at home if they are unwell or have an infectious illness. If a child becomes sick at nursery, we will contact parents and provide comfort. We follow health guidelines on exclusions and reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone unwell. Specialists are welcome by prior arrangement, ensuring the best care for each child.
