Little Monsters Day Nursery is an independent, family orientated nursery, dedicated to delivering individual care for all children in our informal, home-from-home environment. We provide nurturing & caring surroundings, where children can flourish and achieve their full potential. We work closely with parents to ensure that home routines and closely mirrored and that children enjoy their learning experiences with us.

Engaging Play & Learning

Engaging Spaces for Growth and Learning

Little Monsters offers 4 different play areas for children to enjoy all year round. The main front garden, enclosed behind metal railings, features an artificial lawn and paved areas, with space for physical, contemplative and role play, as well as raised beds for planting and construction. A smaller front garden – primarily for Babies and Toddlers provides a shaded, artificial grass area with large sandpit, mud kitchen and range of balance & mobility toys. The inner courtyard has a soft, rubber surface, offering a secure space with ride on toys, play house, sandpit and gardening area for the children in Tweenies. We also have a small forest school area, where the Toddlers, Tweenies and Pre School children can enjoy more nature-inspired activities and play. If this isn’t enough, we regularly take the children off site for walks to the nearby park to enjoy the larger equipment, or towards the village to see the animals in the fields or collect eggs from the egg vending machine.

Baby Room
0 to 15-18 months

A room specifically for toddlers who are confident walkers, which focusses on physical and sensory play for our energetic little bodies, with an emphasis on early speech.

Toddler Room
15-18 months to 2-2½ years

A room of 2 halves – a cosy back room for role play, reading and registration, behind the main area for construction, table top and lots of messy activities to encourage collaborative play.

Tweenies
2-2½ years to 3-3 ½ years

Our largest room, where children have space to play and learn together, with preparation for school at its heart. Lots of early literacy, phonics & maths games, alongside child choice & free play

Pre School
3-3½ years to school (& beyond)

Outdoor Play Spaces

Enjoying the Outdoors

Little Monsters has several outdoor areas and the children really enjoy using them at all times and all year round. They especially love playing outside in the evenings, when it is dark! We believe that outdoor play is a vital part of a childs day and it is actively encouraged at all ages and stages of development. During the warmer months, we use portable gazebos to provide shade for the children, whilst during the winter months, we have outside lighting to enable day-long, year-round outdoor play.
